Praia da Empa's rocky shore
Found across a camping site, this small beach is part of Ericeira’s protected World Surfing Reserve, so there are no facilities or even a lifeguard stand (only portable bathrooms during the bathing season). It’s a rather wild beach, with large tidal pools at low tide.

Praia da Empa is usually nearly deserted
It has a rocky shore and a narrow sandy area, which is often deserted except for a few surfers and bodyboarders.

How to Get to Praia da Empa
Praia da Empa is found to the north of the center of Ericeira (about a 20-to-25-minute walk away), across the road from the camping site. You’ll see a sign pointing in its direction. For its exact location, see the Ericeira beaches map.
Hotel by Praia da Empa

A complex of traditional houses mixing Portuguese and Gaudí-style architecture is now one of Ericeira’s most memorable places to stay. Located below Praia da Empa, by the sea in Praia do Matadouro, it offers colorful 1- and 2-bedroom villas with a nautical-theme décor, and equipped with everything necessary to make them homes away from home. The outdoor swimming pool, patios and bar are perfect for days in the sun.
