View from the ramp that leads to the beach
Now mostly known as Praia do Norte, this beach also has the name of Praia do Algodio. It’s one of Ericeira’s most popular, due to its location in the old town center. It attracts everyone from local teens to seniors, as well as tourists of all ages.
Its name means "Northern Beach," but it's located right in the center of town
Wicker parasols placed close to the low wall that separates the beach from the town provide shade, and there’s a view of the fishing port to the south. On the north side is a series of rocks that separates it from Praia de São Sebastião.
Wicker parasols are placed at the beach during the official bathing season
There are lifeguards on duty during the official bathing season, as well as facilities such as bathrooms and a bar.
Beach for: Families
Bar or Restaurant: Yes
How to Get to Praia do Norte
As it’s located by the narrow streets of the old town, this beach is easy to find (you’ll even see a sign pointing in its direction). If you’re driving, there’s very limited parking nearby, so you’re better off leaving your car on the lot above Praia de São Sebastião.
For its exact location, see the Ericeira beaches map.
