Praia dos Pescadores is Ericeira's most central beach
Not all beaches in Ericeira have surfing waves. If you’re not a surfer and want to swim in calmer waters, you have this beach right in the center of town, protected from the winds by sheer cliffs. It’s called “Fishermen’s Beach” or “Beach of the Boats” (“Praia dos Barcos”) because it faces the port and is where fishermen keep their boats.

The Largo das Ribas viewpoint above the beach
It’s faced by a 30m-high wall, above which stand a number of restaurants, most of them specializing in seafood. It acts as a viewpoint where locals sit and enjoy the views, and a tile panel nearby recalls that “it was from this beach, on October 5th, 1910, that the Portuguese royal family embarked into exile, in front of the entire respectful population of Ericeira,” as Portugal was proclaimed a republic.

Praia dos Pescadores is the only beach in Ericeira that doesn't have waves for surfers
That panel is on the southern side of the 15th-century Chapel of St. Anthony, which was where fishermen prayed before heading into the sea.
